Privacy
A designer’s notebook runs on trust, and this small corner of the web is no different. Here is how LeCoqRoti handles the small amount of data that passes through it, laid out in plain language. The short version: there are no surprises.
Cookies and tracking
Do you use cookies?
Only when you choose to sign in, and only two at that. A session cookie keeps you signed in as you move between pages; a small sign-in marker cookie means the site recognises you on your next visit so you do not have to log in again. Both are strictly functional and disappear when you sign out. If you browse without an account, not a single cookie is set. There are no advertising cookies, no third-party trackers and no analytics snippets watching which pages you open.
What about marketing emails and newsletters?
They do not exist here. LeCoqRoti sends no marketing email of any kind. Notifications live entirely on the site itself: when a program you have saved to your favourites is updated, a small alert appears in your account panel. You control which updates you follow simply by adding or removing a program from your favourites.
Your account
What information does an account hold?
Only what is needed to make the site work for you:
- A display name, which appears publicly with your comments.
- Your email address, used solely to identify your account and shown only to the moderator.
- A hashed password: the site never sees or stores your actual password, only a cryptographic hash of it.
- Your favourites list: the programs you have bookmarked.
- Any comments you have written, along with their moderation status.
- Your notification preferences, derived from your favourites.
That is the complete list. No browsing history, no inferred interests, no profile built in the background.
Comments and moderation
Who can see a comment before it is published?
While a comment waits for moderation, only two parties see it: you (it appears on the page for you with a small “awaiting moderation” label) and the moderator. The moderator sees the full comment, your display name, the email address tied to your account and the program page on which it was left. No other reader can view it. Once approved, the comment becomes visible to everyone who visits that program page, with your display name attached.
Can I delete my comments or my account?
Certainly. Write to [email protected] from the email address associated with your account. State whether you wish to remove a specific comment or delete your entire account. Account deletion removes your display name, email, hashed password, favourites, all comments and all notification records from the active database. A confirmation reply will let you know once it is done.
What we never do
Do you sell data or share it with advertisers?
No. There is no data to sell because nothing is collected beyond what you explicitly provide when you create an account or leave a comment. LeCoqRoti carries no third-party advertising of any kind: no ad networks, no sponsored placements, no affiliate pixels. The site is sustained by a small group of readers who value a clean, private catalogue, and that clean state is a deliberate editorial choice.
Server logs and security
What does the server record?
Like almost every web server, the machine that hosts LeCoqRoti keeps ordinary access logs. Each request records the IP address the request came from, the browser and operating system version your device reported, and the specific pages or files requested. These logs are kept for a limited period and used for two purposes only: troubleshooting when something breaks, and protecting the site against abuse or malicious traffic. They are never mined for behaviour patterns, never cross-referenced with account data and never shared with third parties unless required by a valid legal order.
Changes to this policy
Will this page ever change?
It may, if the site’s features evolve. Should a change affect how your data is handled, the date and a summary of the revision will appear at the top of this page. Significant changes—though the site’s philosophy makes them unlikely—will be flagged with a notice on the homepage for a reasonable period. Because no marketing emails are sent, you will not receive an email about policy updates; the page itself serves as the living record.
